Benefits of this policy

Standard Insurers*
Your Buildings, contents
and valuables – what are
you covered against?
‘All Risks’. Accidental physical loss or damage is
covered as well as perils such as fire, storm and theft.
For example spillage of paint on a wooden floor/carpet,
or accidental breakage of a vase.
Usually only certain defined perils (e.g. storm, flood, fire
etc). Accidental damage is available in return for extra
premium but very often this cover will be limited to or
exclude certain items.
Valuables
We provide automatic cover up to € 7,500 per item. If
you need more cover you just need to tell us – there is
no need to list every single item. We would need proof
of ownership and the item’s value at time of claim.
Very often you will need to list individually items
exceeding €3,500 in value and provide valuations.
Additional premium is also usually charged to cover
high value items such as fine art and antiques.
Fine Art and Antiques
We provide loss in value cover following damage
automatically and our premiums are normally cheaper
than standard contents. We’re also happy to insure
high value items.
Usually need to list items separately with extra
premium being charged.
Cover outside your home
Your possessions are covered anywhere in the world
as standard.
Normally restrictive cover with significant limitations
for items removed from the home.
Policy Conditions
Relatively minimal & designed not to hamper your
lifestyle (i.e. if we require a burglar alarm we will
usually not insist that it is put into operation each
time you leave the property – this is left to your
sensible discretion).
A range of restrictive conditions will often apply (e.g.
insurers will often insist that the alarm is set each time
you leave the property – even if you’re just popping
out to collect your Sunday paper).
Is your loss covered?
An important aspect when a policy is on an ‘all risks’
basis is that a loss is covered unless excluded – a
much broader interpretation than standard.
When the policy basis is “defined perils”, you have to
prove that the specific peril caused the damage. This
can often be difficult.
